Download Check Ride Induction Form
Thank you for your inquiry. You should find some useful information as you scroll down the Checkrides/Rates/Policies (joescarcellaaviation.com) page. It is hoped this page will answer some questions.
Regarding check ride requirements: Please DOWNLOAD the Induction Form via the link above and return the completed to jscarcel@csusb.edu. If you are having a difficult time downloading, I will be happy to respond to you with an email with the Induction Form attached. I would like for you to fill out the form and send it back to me in Microsoft Word.doc or Adobe .pdf. via email. Fill out all boxes that apply. Check ride dates will be assigned in the order received.
Please work closely with your instructor. Additionally, be sure all endorsements are completed correctly. When we meet, have your logbook, government photo ID, student or other pilot certificate, medical (not required for glider), the planes logbooks, be sure the plane is mechanically sound, and you are prepared. Your private pilot ID number, 8710 FTN and Application numbers, your instructors name, CFI number, type of test, type of aircraft being used are most definitely required.
Please, don't text message me pictures of the form. Upon receipt of your emailed form, it is printed and filed it in que in the order received. If we commit on a date, I require a 50% deposit. The deposit will be non-refundable if I am not notified of a cancellation within 72 hours of your ride. Note: if your paperwork is done incorrectly or there are administrative issues, please understand, I am not authorized to continue. That said, if it is not possible to continue due to incorrect documentation, a fee of $300.00 dollar fee for expenses will be charged.
I am not fond of adding additional charges. There are just too many less than 48-hour cancellations and it is impacting other candidates from completing their rating. It is hoped individuals will take their paperwork more serious. The goal is to make this a rewarding experience. Earning a rating is a big accomplishment. Don't take the details lightly as I cannot move to the oral or practical portion without having the paperwork done correctly.
INSTRUCTION AND RATES
Achieving a pilot rating is hard work. If you are interested in learning to fly, don't get stuck on hourly rates, pricing sheets, and local sales jargon...what you find on the internet will fool you! As the adage goes, "you get what you pay for."
I spent many years shopping for the best rates, cutting costs, and flying with different instructors. There are no short cuts and what you put into is exactly what you will get out of it. Learning to fly is a process. You must be committed, dedicated, and work at it. It takes study and practice. If you want to save money, my recommendation is that you find a good instructor that you can work with. One that builds, mentors, and coaches their students. It is value added and it goes a long way.
Moreover, if you want to save money, know that this venture is an adventure and is going to cost you time and money. It is a huge financial and personal commitment. I get it! I did it! You have to stick with it! In order to get proficient at flying, it will take time on task as education takes repetition. Repetition is the best teacher. Still, I will do what I can, where I can, to help cut costs. You will soon learn that I spend a great deal of time outside the cockpit with my students on the phone, at the airport, and other because of the joy of flying. Not to mention, my students become my colleagues and friends. There is nothing more rewarding than introducing individuals to aviation, seeing them obtain a rating and become a member of the airport community, purchasing a plane, renting a hangar, and more.
Give me a call for a trial flight. Or give me call and let's talk about next steps toward your reaching your aviation goals. Your success is mine. We are in this together. I look forward to flying with you soon.
